Academics

Our Classes

All our students have standard classes such as Morality and Ethics, Math, History and Geography, Health and Exercise, and Science. In addition to these classes, we have extra classes which you can view below.

Khmer

Every homeroom teacher at the school is a Cambodian Khmer teacher who can speak Khmer fluently. Most classes are taught primarily in Khmer.

English

All students are offered English classes taught by native or fluent English speakers. The Kindergarten and 1st Grade classes learn the alphabet and basic word sounds. In 2nd and 3rd Grade, students begin to learn to read and speak more complex words and sentences. Every grade builds on the one before, and by High School, students can write, read, and have conversations in basic English. In addition to these English classes that every student attends, the school also offers after-school tutoring for students who are struggling with English.

Computer

Students in Grade 4 and higher grades have computer classes once a week. Students learn the parts of a computer, as well as basic skills on learning computer parts, the basics of using a computer, and learn to type in English.

Music

Each grade has a music class once a week. Students learn new songs, play games to music, and learn about different types of music and instruments around the world. In some classes students learn to play recorders or bells, and sometimes even get to try out new instruments!

Art

All students have an art class once a week, which is built to enhance students’ creativity. Lower grade students will have fun coloring, drawing and making crafts, while upper grade students will practice skills such as drawing and painting, or calligraphy.

Agriculture

Once students reach high school, they participate in an agriculture program, where they work with the school’s field and hydroponics greenhouse facility. In agriculture, students learn how to work with land and crops, to help provide for their families and communities.
